Ziana is prescribed to treat acne vulgaris and works by killing the P. acnes bacteria, unclogging pores and increasing skin cell turnover.
Ziana side effects include burning, itching, irritation, and dry, red and/or scaly skin at the site of application. These side effects should decrease over time. If any of these side effects are severe or don’t go away, tell your doctor or dermatologist. Serious side effects that should be addressed immediately include fever, diarrhea, stomach pain, and blistering, crusting or swollen skin.
There are currently no generic products available that contain this combination of medications. Another branded version is called Veltin. Similar products include clindamycin/benzoyl peroxide, Benzaclin and Duac.
