However, we offer a free coupon for Treximet and a copay card that can save you as much as 75% on that price. To learn more about Treximet, our offers, or a manufacturer coupon, please see the sections below.

Treximet Information

Read information about Treximet below to learn about its common uses. If you have questions about this medicine, please consult with your doctor or pharmacist and be sure to inform them of all the medications you are currently taking.

  Treximet Uses

Treximet Uses:
This medication is intended to treat a migraine headache after it has begun, and it won't work to prevent a migraine headache from occurring. Treximet is a combination of sumatriptan -- a selective serotonin receptor agonist that narrows blood vessels around the brain and reduces chemicals responsible for various migraine symptoms -- and naproxen -- an NSAID that suppresses certain hormones responsible for inflammation and pain. Adults should never take more than two pills within 24 hours; do not cut, crush, chew, or otherwise break your tablets before taking them. They must be swallowed whole.

  Treximet Side Effects

Treximet Side Effects:
Because this medication includes a strong NSAID, it may increase the risk for heart attack and stroke. Seek emergency medical assistance if you suspect you are experiencing either. Other severe side effects that require medical attention include: allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, wheezing, hives, swelling in the face or lips, swelling in the tongue or throat), burning sensation or pain in the eyes, shortness of breath, seizure, unusual tired feeling, feeling as though you may pass out, fever, flu-like symptoms, sore throat, itching, jaundice, unusually pale skin, skin pain followed by a red or purple rash with blistering and peeling which spreads especially in the face or upper body, numbness with tingling, color in your fingers and toes that is unusually pale or blue, rapid weight gain or swelling, unusual or rapid weight loss, loss of appetite, heavy or burning feeling in your legs and feet, swelling in your ankles and feet, upper stomach pain, sudden or severe stomach pain especially after eating, nausea and vomiting, vomit that looks like coffee grounds, coughing up blood, bloody or tarry stool especially diarrhea, clay colored stool, dark urine, difficulty urinating or painful urination. Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, feeling weak or numb with tingling, dry mouth, heartburn, irregular heartbeat, mild pain or pressure in your chest or throat, mild nausea, and tight muscles.

  Treximet Generics & Similar Drugs

Treximet Generics & Similar Drugs:
There is not a generic available for Treximet at this time, and currently there aren't any other brand names that utilize a combination of sumatriptan and naproxen. However, there is a brand name migraine medicine that utilizes sumatriptan -- Imitrex -- and pain relievers that use naproxen, including over-the-counter medicines such as Aleve or prescription medications such as Vimovo.
