The active ingredient in Daytrana, methylphenidate, works by releasing medication into the body upon application at the hip. The Daytrana patch can provide long-lasting ADHD symptom control for up to 10 hours when worn for 9 hours. This medicated patch can be removed anytime during the day to adjust to a child’s schedule or activities. It is important that patients use Daytrana as directed by their doctor as it can lead to drug dependence.
Some of the common side effects patients experience while on Daytrana include skin redness, bumps or itching at the application site, poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, weight loss, tics, trouble sleeping, mood swings, and dizziness.
